Training Philosophy
My training philosophy is simple.  I want to be able to train in my home without having to worry about traveling to a gym.  I want to be creative with my exercises and use whatever will give me the most benefit, while using a variety of different ways to train my body and mind.  Everything from Yoga (YRG) to bodyweight resistance, weight lifting movements and a variety of different forms of cardiovascular exercise.

Being able to train effectively wherever you are is very important.  We all travel when we see family or friends, for business trips and whatever.  A lot of times there is no gym accessible, or maybe there is.  Either way you want to be able to get a good solid workout in.

For the longest time I thought to workout I had to go to a gym and get a membership and allow for 15-30 minutes just to get there.  Well no more, I have been able to effectively train on my own in home without having to buy a gym membership and waste the time getting there for the last 10 years.

I now workout in my basement, which I spent a little bit of money to turn it into a functional gym, and it has all the training equipment I need to get the best workout for me.   I have been able to train like this for a while now, and I can honestly say I will never buy another gym membership.

So after all that what is my training philosophy?

Find the most effective and convenient way to train your body, so when you are finished you are totally exhausted and satisfied with the work you have done.  Use whatever you have available and adapt it to your needs.   Be creative and change your program every 6 to 8 weeks.   Allow variety in you training by experimenting with different exercise forms and finding the ones that best suit your needs, and change when your needs change.

About Jim Longo

I have always been involved in fitness in one form or another for as long as I can remember.  When I was a kid I never stopped moving, not unlike any other kid, right?   As I got older I was a soccer player, then got into weight lifting, then boxing and the marital arts.  Eventually I was a full time karate instructor.

As I got older I learned I was a pretty good teacher and thoroughly enjoyed providing people with the insight for something new.   I read almost every book I could find on different exercise routines.   By the time I was in my late twenties I had read so many books and investigated so many programs that my family and friends were always asking for my advise on training.

After a while I started to teach kickboxing and boxing with a couple of my friends at a local gym, and we were pretty successful.   Eventually I ended up moving to far (100 miles away) to be able to continue working with them, but they still teach and run their own gym today (Weapons 9 Mauy Thai).

I ended up moving because I got a police job and needed to be closer to the town in which I was working.  When I went through the police academy I finished 4th in my class and came in 2nd in the fitness portion of it, not to bad considering most of the people were in the early twenties and I was the oldest guy in the class, 33.   This goes to show it is not your age it is how you feel and function that makes the difference.

So why do I think I can help you with your physical and mental training?  Well, I have been practicing and investigating various different ways of training for over 20 years.  I have tried a lot of different ways to workout and found ways that I feel work really well and ways that were not so great.   For a long time now I have wanted to do something so I could spread the information I have gathered over the years and I think this is the best way for me to do so.

What to Expect
My goal with this site is to inspire you to train with intensity and to always find new and creative ways to challenge yourself.  I’ll be posting a variety of short articles on topics covering everything from how much sleep you need to mental focus and routines that will challenge you in both ways.

I will be sending a weekly email that will keep you up to date on what is happen at the site and any new products I may offer.  I am going to introduce you to a variety of different training philosophies and training tools that will broaden your mind and challenge your body.

I’m very excited to show you everything I know about fitness and what it has done for me over the years.   I can honestly say that without fitness in my life it would be so much more stressful and unhappy.  Being mentally and physically fit is the foundation to everything in life.   I look at my time in the gym as meditation to forget my worries and focus only on what I’m doing.  In doing that I can better focus outside the gym and it increases my productivity through the day in whatever I am doing.

Let me show you what I mean….
